The first national press report about the famous footprints of the Prehistoric Pompeii appeared in the " Pest Diary" on Friday, August 17, 1900, 120 years ago. We commemorate on this event.
János Tuzson, the Selmecbánya Academy's scientist who identified the species of the gigantic, petrified tree asked Hugo Böckh to determine the geological conditions of the tree trunk. Thus, in connection with a summer field practice, they visited the "Borókás" ravine in August 1900 and discovered the footprints next to the tree.
