The Hungarian Natural History Museum about our fossil footprints
The Hungarian Natural History Museum issued a press release on the latest results of the research on the fossil footprints of Ipolytarnóc. Together with the staff of the Bükki National Park Directorate and the Herman Ottó Museum in Miskolc, they used the latest techniques, including 3D scanning, to track down the Miocene prehistoric world.

Laszlo Kordos will present his new book about the fossil ape at a press conference and audience meeting in the Miocene Park. The joint event of the Bükk National Park Directorate and the Novohrad-Nógrád UNESCO Global Geopark pays tribute to the work of the famous paleontologist.
World Animal Day at Ipolytarnoc Fossils
The site commemorates the feast day of Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals and human caretakers of nature.
On October 4 at 11 am a short, open event will celebrate the life on Earth in the Ancient Pine visitor centre. Come and join us and protect Nature.

Geodiversity and Geotop Days at the Miocene Park
On October 6 and October 8 special events celebrate the rich geodiversity of the transnational Novohrad-Nograd UNESCO Global Geopark at its main gateway, the Ipolytarnoc Fossils Nature Reserve, managed by the Bükk National Park Directorate.
The event endorses the International Geodiversity Day initiative. The visitors can dive into the past from the Pannonian lake through a volcanic disaster to the Paratethys shallow sea full of with giant sharks at the Geosite of the Ipolytarnoc Fossils.
On October 6 (Geodiversity Day) at 10:45 AM at the Ancient Pine Visitor Center a guided tour starts leading through the exhibitions of the Time Spiral and the Geosites and one can touch the wall of the animated past.
On October 8 (the traditional Geotop Day) beside the same event, the guides will explicitly mention and promote the rich geodiversity of the geopark with nearby geosites worth to visit after the tours on the geological study trail.

In the Western Gate Visitor Center of the Bükk National Park Directorate in Felsőtárkány, visitors can observe the flora and fauna of the Bükk National Park through the interactive elements of the exhibition “Karst and its living world”, many times playfully, and they can also learn about the geological formation of the mountain.Read more

ValuesSZENT ISTVÁN CAVE
The total length of the passageways of the Szent István Cave is 1,514 m, its vertical dimension is 101 m. In the building in front of the cave you can find the ticket office and a souvenir shop. The length of the passageway shown to the visitors is 170 m, during the trip to and back it’s 340 m altogether, with some stairs.Read more
